Towers of Light memorial

World Trade Center lights

"Bridge of Sighs"
April, 2002
Open Edition

On March 11 2002, the "Tribute in Light" was first publicly lit. It used 88 spotlights to beam two 50-foot squares of light heavenward. The sponsors' intention was that the lights are a tribute to the memory of those who were lost, and are also symbols of the spirit of the great city of New York , and our shared determination to rebuild the great city we love. This image of the World Trade Center memorial was photographed from Brooklyn on the last night the lights were illuminated.
