The crystal clear wave rose just offshore of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dana Point, Ca. In the space of less than a second this bootlenose dolphin jumped through the back of the wave, swam along its curved face and then disappeared.

This image captures the mystery of these intelligent creatures better than most.
